British Wildlife Centre
The British Wildlife Centre, in the heart of east Surrey's countryside is the best place to see and learn about Britain's own wonderful wildlife, with over forty different species from tiny harvest mice to magnificent red deer, and everything in between! You'll see close-up rarely seen species such as otters, Scottish wildcats, red squirrels and pine martens, as well as deer, badgers and beautiful birds of prey.
The animals live in attractive landscaped enclosures that reflect their natural habitats. Most animals can be seen whatever the weather and much of the Centre is outdoors, but there are plenty of undercover attractions such The Barn and The Hedgerow which house rats, rabbits, hedgehogs and mice, voles, moles and, in the summer months, a working bee hive. You can see badgers in a special underground viewing chamber, and otters in the observation holt.
The popular and informative Keeper Talks take place every half hour and give you the chance to learn more about these animals and see them even closer whilst they are being fed.
The Centre offers excellent opportunities for photography and plenty of seating if you just want to relax and take in the scene.
The Visitor Centre is the start of your visit and houses the Gift Shop and Coffee Shop, which offers drinks, sandwiches, snacks and cakes. Or you can bring your own lunch and enjoy the outdoor picnic areas.
A great day out for all ages and a REAL natural history lesson!
