Attraction Details

Somerset House

To refer to this sprawling neoclassical building as a house is a bit like calling the nearby Thames a mere trickle. The 18th Century palace, once home to the Queen’s Court, now provides the backdrop to one of London’s most impressive spaces.

The Fountain Court is a year-round attraction with the ice rink in the winter and a series of massive concerts in the summer, as well as a Film4-sponsored outdoor film festival.

With art galleries, exhibitions and fairs taking up the indoor spaces, Somerset House is a diverse multi-purpose venue with something for everyone, and even a walk around the courtyard provides a pleasing refuge from the bustle of central London outside.
